Day15

Envy? Cooked Atkins acceptable Korean Seafood soup.

Ingredient:
1 flower crab
prawns
Anchovy
2 cups Romaine lettuce
2 cups Butterhead cabbage

Seasoning:
Salt
Chilli powder
Olive oil
Sesame seed oil

WAter must be damn heavy. Hell. I weighted myself after I've polished my dinner including the soup and I weight 68kg. Got a shock of my life. WAter fluctates so much? It's like 3kg of water and food in my guts!
Oh dear. My complexion seem to be deterioting. I've tried hard to improve my sensitive and acne prone skin. But started Atkins after it showed slight improvement. But pimples are crawling onto my face again! Is it because of Atkins? Or it's just a part of 'women' cycle?
Shall wait and see.

Day15!

I'm pampering myself. I should be feeling high with my culinery!

Breakfast: Fu long egg. Fu long refers to a town in China. I don't know how this kind of cooking got it's name. It's a ATkins version of it. I cooked it with 2oyster mushroom, a leaf of Romaine lettuce and a small cucumber. Seasoned with a teaspoon of Soya sauce, a pinch of salt and some sesame seed oil. Yummy!


Lunching! Prawns!! Baked cheese prawn topped with a little onion. I tried not to eat the onion. I'm going for class. Don't wanna fart in class. IT's gonna be embarrassing. YUm yum yum!

I sliced the prawn into half. Took out their intestine. Slice less than an once of Cheddar cheese into strip and sandwich the prawn.

Day14 Breakfast

Had Korean insprited BBQ and bibimhap again. I should be treating my tastebud better. Well, it doesn't taste as good as it looks. But my brother loves it and was fighting over my miserable portion.

The filling is basically bibimhap without rice.
I seasoned the pork with a little five spices powder and salt. Cooked 2 small cucumbers with salt. Included a sunny side up. Mixed chilli powder, sesame seed oil with water for the paste. Merely cooked 4 cups of Romaine lettuce lightly in boiling water.



It's day 14!

I've decided to stick with induction for 1 more week. I still have quite a lot to lose.

Day13 Pork!

Breakfast:
3 cups Romaine LEttuce and 5 slices of collar pork
Lunch:
1 sunny side up and 'fake lean' pork
Dinner:
'fake lean' pork

Well, I was sick of Chicken. I've almost live entirely on Chicken for the passed 2 weeks. I hate fillet. I hate chicken breast now. Thinking of chicken make me want to puke. Sometimes I just want something lighter. The problem is, I find it difficult to be eating enough. Thus, I added extra oil into my food to increase my calories intake.

Perhaps growing up in an Asian country my eating habit is lighter. When I cook just my myself, I tend to be lazy and skip steps that I'll go through if I'm cooking to impress. My cooking sucks sometimes though it looks great in pictures. I just have to gulp down those disgusting protein.

I realised a terrible mistake I've made. Soya Milk (unsweetened) is only allowed in the 7 rung of Ongoing Weight loss in Atkins. Argh.

So should I go on induction for 1 more week to make up the lost of time on induction or should I go on to the 1st rung of OWL?

I still struggling with my plan. I have 14kg mroe to lose. I initally though that I would go to OWL at 55kg. But changed my mind, perhaps 60kg. I'm sick of my food. OWL added a lot more varity to my diet. I'm already starting to feel tired. I don't know if it's due to my poor sleeping habit. Or is it because it's time for me to move to OWL?

Day13

I went to Save N shop to get some Romaine Lettuce. MY mum bought me some lettuce but I don't know what lettuce it is. So it's better to play safe.

A lady tried to get into my quenue just now. SHe was standing beside the quenue shopping at the spices section with her baby trolley. Later she moved to stand beside me. When I moved she moved along with me. I didn't voice out initially. I want to confirm what she was trying to do. So it's sure that she's trying to get into my line. I told her off.

' Excuse me. Please quenue up.'

' I was quenuing here!'

'No. You were not.'

'Ok. nevermind you queue'

There she walked away to another queue. She sounded experienced with her excuse. Most probably came prepared. Haha. But I just couldn't stand this sort of disrespectful people. We spend our time queueing up so do others. But these people just wanted to take advantage of others. Perhaps I looked young that's y she targeted on me?

Alright. That's a self compliment.

Before Atkins

I don't usually eat a lot per single meal. When I was much slimmer. During my secondary school era, I never eat chicken rice or nasi lemak. Both are the worse sinful food.

Chicken rice, a very prominent local delicacy. I make great chicken rice too. To make authenic chicken rice. You have to fry Garlic, ginger and shallot with the rice. Then cooked the rice with chicken oil and pandan leave. This is how you get the chicken rice fragance. This is totally sinful. But the healthy version of it is, don't fry the rice. Just cook it with chicken soup. But there goes the sinful joy.

The making of bai zhan ji(white chicken) is also very interesting. We cooked the chicken in boiling water for about 20mins and then soak the chicken in icy cold water to get it's juicy and tender texture. Haha. I can still have the chicken. But I find it such a chore. I hate the cleaning up.

oh. Nasi Lemak is a malay delicacy. The rice is cooked with coconut milk. So the rice itself is damn oily. And we usually eat it with deep fried chicken wing, ikan bilis, deep fried fish, egg and peanuts. Oh the nasi lemak chilli is so delicious. IT's sweet.

Oh. These are so carb overload. That's y I'm getting 'ballooned' up. My guy loves all these sinful food. I started to enjoy these sin after I'm dating him. Oh dear. IT's essential to weight yourself EVERYDAY when you're dating. My guy loves food and I cook well. So we eat and eat and eat.

I shall post my past pic when I was a lot slimmer and my current pic. I'm so sad just thinking about all these. sob*

I can't wear Bikini. I'm only wearing Tankini for now. Sob*

My nasty neighbour commented that I looked like someone who had given birth to a few kids.

Damn it. I totally hate her.

Day 12

I still have problem in the toilet. 3rd day! Argh. Goin to get my flaxseed soon.

Had 2 sunny side up for breakfast.

This is my lunch cum dinner. I'm sick of cooking. It's so troublesome. So I'm cooking both meal together. Seems like I'm not eating enough?

My fridge inventory is running low. Shall top up 2dae or tml? Lazy me.
This is cauliflower. I boiled it, put it in a food processor and added sour cream and a pinch of salt. It tasted as expected like mashed potato. But I'm not really appeal to it. 1 mouthful make me loss my appetide. It's mashy and soft. Just not the usual whipped potato you have

The pound issue

It's the toilet issue now. I hadn't been to toilet for the 2nd day. I reckoned my weight hasn't drop due to this 'extra pound' haha. Should cut down on my cheese intake to avoid constipation. The needle today shows slightly less than 67kg.
Anyway, it's been significant loss so far.

Day10 A new me

I used to be nortorious for giving in to temptation. Now I'm no longer the old me. I fight off temptation easily. L,ike in a snap of a finger! I feel so good about myself.

In the past, I won't be able to resist coffee at all. I can have up to 3 to 4 cups of coffee per day. Ever if that means I have to sacrifice my sleep. I just can't live without coffee. I crave for chocolate, dessert (oh I love them). I frequet dessert store like Ah Chew and the other one from Chinatown. I am a very great cook myself. I love my cooking too. Haha. That's a contributing factor. I love food. I love my food. I love bubble tea pearl, i love dumpling, rice ball, korean ricecake and blah blah blah.

Though that means I can't touch them for now, I used to feel that it's such as great sacrifice. But now, seems like I'm not feeling a pinch of pain at all? Perhaps it's the appetide suppression I'm getting from this diet.

Last but not least, I'm so proud of myself!

I can even cook for my love Atkins sinful dishes! Haha. YES.s I baked cake for my darling. I Added Atkins sinful ingredient to make my diet 'normal' for my darlin. I even make coffee for him. To taste, I took a sip and spit it right into the sink. HAha.

Right now, I even have a bottle of coffee in front of me. And the thing is, I'm not tempted!

This is so amazing!

But seem like my trend now is gonna be 0.5kg every 3days. ??? Let's see. Perhaps I'm not stalling afterall. IT's just I've adjusted the water weight loss?

Hi! It's day9.

I'm still on Atkins and never cheated once. Didn't have time to upload my food today.

Uploading my food used to be exciting. It used to be a turning point of my eating habit. Especially the first few days where you have to deal with a lot of temptation as your body adjust itself.

I had a little headache the 1st day. I had a few mind fogs on day4/5. I didn't really know what it mean till now. My Ketosis most probably being on day5. I didn't spend any money on KEtosix. I'm still a student. It's alrdy quite tedious to fund my Atkins diet. $28 buck for 100 sticks(as per other Atkineers) can feed me a week.

Well, nowadays uploading of what I've eat seem more like a chore and it's getting boring. But I have to say. It's useful!

On Day5, my weight loss stalled. I there I was staring and reviewing all the food I've eaten since day1 to see what could have gone wrong. Realised that I changed my cooking method, I added Soya bean milk, coffee and Cranberry Tea. Well, I've eliminiated all mentioned. Quite an extremist arent I? Well, I don't want ot spend time exploring what works and don't work for me. I'm not working as R&D for Atkins. I can manage temptation. Anyway, temption is so abstract and transient. I want results.

This is all i'm interested in.

I'm a really vain person. I want to slim down because I want to look better in a lot of clothes. I love dressing up. I started to explore with makeup since 8 yrs old. Even before I learned ABC, I started drawing makeup equipment on my jotter book. Hahaha. That's a very memorial childhood play.

Well I've decided. In future, I won't be posting anymore food pic unless it is really unique or unusual?

I should only do the relevance. I will only record what i've eaten, the ingredient and cooking method. Well, believe these are the only essential or relevance piece of information I need if I need to review my diet again.

Day8 Morning!

This is what I had for Breakfast. Tuna in sour cream, mayo and olive oil. Fried egg in olive oil and romaine cabbage. I wrapped them up like what I did for Korean BBQ.

I took a nap in late afternoon and gosh... when i woke up it's alrdy 7pm. So this is my Lunch cum dinner. It's Korean bibimhap and BBQ insprited dish.

The filling: Chicken fillet, five spices powder and salt.

Korean Bibimhap sauce: CHilli powder, water, sesame seed oil.

I boiled the Romaine lettuce in water.

ATkins

I am introduced to Atkins by a lecturer during lecture. We were studying about the human digestive system which includes the metabolism of food, fasting and starving state. Their mechanism and etc.

WE were also told to do a mini group assignment about Atkins. Thus, I'm sure it works. The magic is, when you have excess carb in your body, it's converted into glycogen and fats (the extra pound you've been carrying around). Atkins manipulate science to work for your body. Too little food can cause your body to go into starvation state where your metabolism slowed down and started to cannibalize your body. This is very dangerous. in extreme cases, heart tissues can be cannibalized too.

Atkins get our body into the fasting state. This is in between the feeding and starving state. So your body go into Ketosis and utilize its fats cells for energy.

I'm upset. I think most people are too used to scale. As a Science student, I knew it so well that scale is the least accurate indicator. But I couldn't help but take it so seriously. Perhaps that is the only measurement available to me. This scale number is so exact in your face. It has a psychological effect.

I have to admit that I can't help but feel a little demoralized by my number. IT's still 67.5kg. I'm not losing. I read about troubleshooting weight lost stalling. I'm thinking
1) I got myself into starvation state? When I have morning lecture (day 4 and 5) . The time between my breakfast and lunch is slightly more than 6 hours.

2) My soya milk latte? Though the label stated carb. Perhaps, in ATkins term, it's supposed to mean more. It's soya! I was not really sure about this. Because according to Atkins phase 1 recipes, Soy powder is included.

Anyway, I'll stop my soya intake. This is my rare golden opportunity for induction. Please let my get this over quickly. A little sacrifice at the beginning won't hurt. I don't want stupid food to spoil my whole induction.

I think I'm a little obsessive now. I'm a little stressed to lose pounds. I have target weight in mind. That's y i'm stress. But people from the Atkins community is telling my that we shouldn't have a target weight because Atkins is not about losing pounds. It's about losing fats , losing inches. Inches!. I do feel my tummy getting a little flatter. But this doesn't really provide a explicit indication.

I will still continue with my induction. Hopefully, I can be my weight at 66kg soon.

Day7 part1. Bonjour!

Amazingly 7th day. AFter today this will be the longest Atkins journey I'm goin through.

A couple of years ago. I did ATkins with an overweight friend. It lasted a week. People commented that I visually slimmed down. I was around the 60-65kg range than and my body fats is like 28/18kg. I can't remember clearly. But my statistics is in a really healthy range. I was a biomedical science student. We did experiment for the heart and blood glucose. Even though I'm bigger than a lot of my classmates, my result is tiptop. Perhaps, I've been active in school. People were surprised. Turned out that those skinny classmates doesn't have a better body than a bigger girl. ??

My overweight friend gave in to temptation and me too. I were at KFC with my peeps. Friends... They go 'just a sip won't hurt', 'why are you being so cruel to yourself', 'you won't be happy. You can't eat a lot of food'. Sign~

I have a bad habit. If I wanted to do something, I make sure I go all the way out and allow no interruption. I'm kinda a perfectionist. But if something hurt my plan, I'll 'tumbled' down and started to gorge on the sin. ARgh!

Since I'm studying in different institution from my friends and my boyfriend is preparing for his exam, thus too busy to tempt me. I'm taking this golden opportunity to do Atkins again.

A memoriable Journey

ATkins. A very controvesy diet. Especially in an Asian country like Singapore. IT's even more difficult. Asians live on staple food, carb like rice and noodles for all their life. About 95% of all ready snacks consist mainly of carb. Like bubble tea, Japanese octopus ball, soyabean curb(my fav.) .... Temptation is at every inch of my journey. I'm glad today, I don't feel as tempted as before like the first few days.

But I realised that when I had late lunch. I was taking a nap, I kinda get a little hungry. My mum is cooking Green bean soup. The smell of pandan leave is so fragance. Mmmm....

I must endure through this journey.

Day6!

Applause to myself for reaching day6!

My weight hadn't dropped from ydae. I was wondering if I'm already hit the 'Induction wall' or it's just water? Scale is the least reliable parameter. Or izzit because of my increase soya latte intake?
But it most rounded up 1g net carb only. ??? Hitting Induction wall now is a bit early isn't it?

Ok. I'll continue with my soya latte intake as usual and see what happens tomorrow. If my weight didn't go down again. I will cut back on my soya intake. Of izzit because of my mushroom dressing? The label state 4g carb. But I only had half and I reckon the 4g refers to the brine the mushroom is soaked in. ???

I reckon it's most probably water.

I was told induction wall is a state you'll inevitable reach when your body used it's less drawn glycogen. Initially, when body uses glycogen, the body loses water along the way thus resulting in significant weight loss in the 1st week. There after, if u're continuing with the diet and if your weight remains.

Your body is still losing fats. But adjusting back it's water content. Thus, the weight loss is offset by the water gain. So the advice is to continue with the diet. Once the water got back to before Atkins, you'll see pounds dropping again. Not forgetting meanwhile you're still losing inches.

Day5 part1 Good Morning!

I am enjoying my culinery and slimming down at the same time! Had half a chicken this morning. Had morning class today. One great tip is to fill up ur tummy right in the morning so you won't feel deprived throughout lecture. Well, in class I'll be surrounded by classmates sipping down their pipinng hot coffee from Toastbox (fav!) and chewy soft fresh bun. Well, so I really need to prepare myself to fight off temptation. I'M SO PROUD OF MYSELF!!!!!




Made a soya latte. Cheers for my success! I added a little decaf. instant coffee into unsweetened soyamilk. It turned out really enjoyable. I'm afraid I'll be addicted to this. Atkins allow me to rediscover the beauty of natural tasting food again! Yippee. I have no choice but to improve on my culinery skill. LolXx

Day4 part2

Lunch! I sacrified my time with my guy to avoid temptation. I don't want to follow him into the canteen and see him eat. I don't wanna risk. I don't want history to happen again! Anyway this is my lunch. Had salad.

In my salad: Chicken fillet, 2 hard boiled egg white, oilve oil, Italian dressing and my (so-called) cheesecake from ydae. The cheesecake turned out quite salty. But it goes well with my Salad. Haha

DAy4 part1

IT's day 4! I'm so excited! Time flies before you know it. I can't wait for days to come as I proceed with Atkins.

I had morning class today. WOke up at 7am. I woke up 45mins earlier to fix my Atkins meal. I made sure that I have enough food to keep me through lecture. Planning ahead is VERY IMPT!

Well, this is what I had for breakfast.

Salmon! Grilled with Thyme, Dill, Tumeric powder and salt!
It goes along with my Cranberry tea too!

I prepared a bottle of Cranberry TEa to keep me from feeling deprived in class. The sweet scent helps a lot. No worries. There's no sugar in tea. I checked the label. Boiled 2 eggs just in case i'm hungry during lecture. I reused my Cranberry Tea bag for the egg. Amazingly, I don't feel hungry in class so the egg ended up in my salad bowl for lunch.

It consists of Cranberry tea.

Soul for the tempted heart.

How many a times when temptation threatened to be overwhelming, you fight it off?
How many a times when everybody around you are feasting on frizzy carbonated drinks, cakes, mousse and ice-cream, you can only take in the unsinful scent of it.

Swallow a gulp of water or saliva, imagine the taste, the smoothness, the sweetness, the lingering goodness and ...

u've eaten!

Day3 part1

REfused to wake up till 12pm.


I bought some herds from Cold storage ydae. I'm gonna use it to spice up my boring recepies.

ATKINS has very exciting recepies. But to follow recepies in Atkins, it's quite costly. Plus, I personally feel that they are not as strict as I do! Haha. I'm in Singapore, most Western cooking confectionary are marked up. Yup, so I'll still enjoying my food with economical alternative.


Btw, i'm also keeping recepies of my grocery so I can calculate how much it cost me do Atkins. I'm sure it gonna be far cheaper than any programmes from any slimming center.


Here is what I had for breakfast cum lunch. LolXx. I can't wake up early.



I grilled a fish fillet with Dill, Thyme, Garlic and butter.











Grill 2 chicken fillet with Thyme.


Made my own Salad. It turned out quite good and it's entirely Atkins acceptable.

I used Cucumber and butterhead cabbage.

Dressing: 1 teaspoon of sourcream (This is to replace vinegar. Vinegar always does contains sugar.), 1 teaspoon of Mayonnise and 2 teaspoon Olive oil.



I also bought a decaffinated instand coffee in case my cafeine addiction decides to rule over me.





Exactly this morning, I had a little craving for creamy sinful coffee. So I made an espresso from the decaf coffee. I used half teaspoon of decaf coffee and added like 1 tablespoon of water. It taste, YUCKS. Nothing beats local brew. But it did stop my coffee craving.






In the end, I preferred tea. So I had green tea along with my meal.

I'm still deciding whether to Jog or do Aerobics in the comfort of my room.
Well, gonna study still late afternoon.
Haven't jog for sometime, I have big calf. People is telling me that Jogging make your calf bigger.
Well, logically, I believe it. It's just like doing weight. In a gym, the more weight u do the bigger muscle you build. So I'm like 70kg now, I don't want a calf ready to serve a 70kg girl when I slimmed down.

Day2 snack

HAd evening class today. Bought a black pepper BBQ chicken steak from Cold storage. Freaking $4 for a miserable sized steak. It taste horrible too. Too salty and too hard. As if it's been recooked several times.

Attempted to bake a cake without flour. Turn out really awful. Though it looked and smell awesome.
